Alyssa Haim, MA Candidate, is a clinical practicum student from Adler University, completing the second year of her Masters degree in Counselling Psychology. Prior to pursuing her degree in Counselling Psychology, Alyssa attended Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario earning her undergraduate degree in Sociology, with a minor in both Psychology and Religious Studies.
Alyssa’s previous counselling experience involves working with young children through equestrian therapy, which has sparked her passion in helping others through whichever means of therapy suits the client best.
Alyssa generally works with a client-centered approach, applying therapeutic orientations such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), as well as Mindfulness-Based techniques, where applicable. Alyssa’s primary goal when working with clients is to establish a warm, trusting, and empathetic relationship in order to form a strong foundation for therapy to take place. From there, Alyssa likes to work collaboratively with her clients to explore their emotional experiences in an atmosphere where the client leads the way.
