I am inspired by the resiliency that can be found in people from all walks of life, and in every corner of the globe. I believe there is strength to be found in everyone, sometimes it just takes a nurturing hand, an understanding ear, and an open heart to create opportunity for individuals to find what is innately within themselves. I value the therapeutic relationship and the importance of creating a safe space where clients can explore and challenge themselves. I also feel honoured that clients are willing to invite me into their process of self-change and the enhancement of their well-being.
In the space of counselling, therapists can exhibit the traits and behaviours that so many of our clients are missing in their daily lives. It is through these genuine connections, and feelings of care and compassion that individuals can begin to feel worthy and cared for, capable of achieving their goals, and improving their sense of well-being.
My experience at different agencies over the past 10 years has provided me opportunities to learn about the hardships endured by many different populations in our communities. I am intrigued by human nature and the resilience found in each of us. I aspire to provide support to those who are suffering and would like someone to travel their road with them.
I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor through the Canadian Counselling Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and hold a CCC license.
I completed my Masters of Counselling at the University of Lethbridge in 2017. Since moving to Vancouver last spring, I have been working as a Clinical Counsellor at the Youth Wellness Centre in Maple Ridge, providing support to children, adolescents, and their families.
I’m particularly passionate about providing competent support for queer and trans folks, children and youth, and couples. My counselling approach is relational and integrative, most closely aligning with person-centred theoretical ideas and concepts. I strongly believe in the power of being present for the client, providing them with care, empathy, compassion, genuineness, and positive regard. In addition I also utilize approaches such as CBT, SFT, mindfulness, experiential, art, and play therapy techniques.
