Ryan Shick, MC, has been a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) since 2017. He has extensive experience helping adults, youths, children and couples experiencing a wide range of mental health and relationship concerns to achieve positive change.
As a counsellor, Ryan is dedicated to supporting you in improving key areas of your life. He believes that people have the personal strengths, social resources, and overall potential to achieve positive changes as a result of their own efforts, in partnership with a caring and capable counsellor. Ryan recognizes that a warm and supportive therapeutic relationship is an essential aspect in an empowering and fulfilling counselling process.
Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) is the foundation for Ryan’s practice. SFBT is an evidence-based treatment based on principles of positive psychology. Ryan will help you to create a clear vision of your desired future, and to identify your unique strengths and resources. Focusing on relatively problem free times in the past, present, and future will help you to uncover important clues as to how you can improve your life. Acknowledgement of and compliments on your efforts, progress, successes, resilience, and coping abilities will inspire you and help to restore your hope and confidence in yourself. The focus is on the present and near future where real, positive changes can be made in areas of your life where you still do have control.
