Afsah Ahmad, MA Clinical Psych, P.M.D Clinical Psychology, MCP, RCC is a registered Clinical Counselor with British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She has a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. Afsah has been working in the field for more than 7 years. She has experience internationally and working with government, private and non-profit organizations in B.C.
Afsah’s initial training was focused on psycho-dynamic and Cognitive Therapies. She later incorporated Dialectical Behavioral therapy, Insight Oriented Approaches and Emotional Focused Family Therapy in her practice. She has experience working with clients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. She works with children, youth, young adults, adults, couples and families.
She integrates her experience and knowledge to support clients that experience anxiety, depression and low mood, relationship issues, family conflicts, communication and immigration adjustment, grief, loss and bereavement.
Over the years Afsah has successfully helped her clients to achieve their goals. She has been admired for her ability to identify the core of the problem and providing effective solutions. She has a very warm, non-judgemental and genuine style of connecting with her clients and provides a safe environment for growth. She enjoys empowering her clients in making positive changes in their lives and reaching their full potential. She is very passionate about her work and believes it’s a great privilege that her clients trust her with their inner most self and life journey. She advocates that every person has the inner strength, ability and resilience to heal and grow from emotional pain and lead content and fulfilling life.
