Apekchha (Apek, pronounced uh-peck) Sapkota, she/her, MCP, RCC, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She completed her Master of Counselling Psychology at Adler University (Vancouver).
Apek likes to take a holistic, inclusive, and collaborative approach to counselling. It is important for her to create a safe and comfortable environment for clients, while allowing for deep and meaningful conversations and reflections to occur in the therapy room. She is passionate about social justice and aims to create a non-judgmental space for individuals.
As someone who grew up and lived in Nepal, the Philippines, and Canada, and attended international schools, Apek has had the greatest opportunities to meet and interact with people from diverse cultures, identities, and experiences.
During her clinical practicum, she worked with clients of various backgrounds, presenting issues, and therapy goals. She used Gestalt Therapy to conceptualize her clients, however – through her knowledge, education, and research – utilized combining concepts and techniques from multiple therapies (eclectic psychotherapy) to best fit the clients’ goals and learning styles.
Lastly, Apek also loves nature, dance, music, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones.
