We humans are social beings and thrive through connection. The relationships we make and maintain are what provide meaning and purpose to our lives. But in order to achieve this we have to first be in connection with ourselves.
Unfortunately, there are a number of factors–such as burnout, restrictive societal norms, and acute or complex trauma–which can disrupt this felt-sense connection.
And when this happens we are left feeling frustrated, anxious, isolated, lost, trapped, confused, and in despair.
The goal of therapy with clients, then, is to work through the layers of trauma and conditioning in a way that is respectful, accepting, and responsive to their unique needs. The framework for this collaborative approach is integrative, including experiential, relational, client-centered, emotion-focused, and mindfulness-based psychodynamic therapies. Past events, present concerns, and future possibilities are explored in a holistic manner that can shed light and understanding to facilitate a more connected sense of self
People don’t typically come to therapy just to “improve their lives”. They come because they are in pain, seeking relief and wanting change. As a trained counselling professional, Dave comes with over 7 years experience in the therapeutic field and a number of additional trauma-informed trainings which guide his approach. Whether you are coming as an individual, or as a couple, he offers a safe, nonjudgmental space that promotes compassion and gets to the heart of the matter. Let’s face this together, so that you can live your life with more freedom, connection, and ease.
