Ernest Chen

Ernest Chen, MCP, RCC, CCC is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellor (BCACC).

He is also a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Ernest holds a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University, Vancouver. He has certifications in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Clinical Hypnosis (Hypnotherapy), Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), and Existential Analyst (Psychotherapist).

Typically, Ernest employs an existential-humanistic approach to therapy, guiding a client through to the core of the issue rather than symptom management. Depending on the presenting concern and client’s comfort he may use other techniques such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Hypnotherapy, EMDR, or CBT and Mindfulness.

Ernest believes that the therapeutic encounter in life’s journey is our chance to explore, clarify, and determine who we are and what motivates us to do something regardless if we are aware or not. With this clarity, clients will be able to access freedom to decide what they wish to be, will be – can and want to be.
