Jeff Hoy, MA, RCC is one of the two clinical directors at No Fear Counselling. He is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

Moving through the tough times in the ‘ebb and flow’ of life can be really hard. The same is true of the inevitable hard times we all go through in our most important relationships. Struggle is a part of the human experience, and the best antidote is human connection. Having a life crisis or existential crisis, challenges with mood or stress, family conflict, and relationship challenges are a reality for all of us. Turning to a helper can make a world of difference, and typically leads to life-changing for the better.

An accomplished psychotherapist, my passion is helping individuals and families grow past painful patterns or life phases, and move towards love, togetherness, and living a connected life. I implement therapy methods to instill self-awareness among clients and help them move through painful patterns, emotions, and ways of being that are preventing them from living their most ideal life.

As a couple’s therapist, my male clients have often expressed appreciation that my approach has honored their needs, has given them an identifiable target with tangible goals, and has allowed them to have space to explore their most vulnerable pains and needs. My female clients have expressed appreciation that my approach has truly allowed their experience to be expressed and understood, that they have felt heard, honored, and respected, and that my calm energy, humor, and genuineness allowed the most sensitive parts of themselves or their relationship to be worked on and improved.

Having a richly experienced personal life – both positive and negative – and having worked with families and individuals from all walks of life with all sorts of challenges, I believe I have an exceptional ability to understand, empathize with, and inspire clients; as well as create a safe supportive space to fully explore uncomfortable underlying emotions, thoughts, and memories. We will move towards a better life, and truly understand and address what keeps you from living the life you want.

In the end, being comfortable is not the goal – attaining a happier, more fulfilled life is – and I can help you. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) trained in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotion Focused-Family Therapy (EFFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
