Jules Ku-Lea, BA, MCP, CCC, is a registered counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (Reg #10001345).
Her previous experience includes 15 years in the mental health and wellness field. Prior to becoming a therapist, Jules worked as a mental health worker on Vancouver’s Downtown East Side helping clients with addiction and severe mental illness. She completed her counseling internship at Royal Columbian Hospital, working with mothers who were experiencing antenatal and postpartum anxiety and depression.
Jules is an active meditation and mindfulness practitioner and has studied in monasteries across the world; including India, Thailand, Burma, and Sri Lanka. She uses evidence-based practices to nudge her clients in the right direction. Including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based interventions, as well as Developmental Psychology.
Jules specializes in helping clients who have anxiety, depression, and are feeling stuck. She also works with parents to help navigate the murky waters of pregnancy and parenthood. Jules has two small children; and understands the joy, gratification, and heart-melting moments of parenting, as well as the exhaustion, frustration, and pull-your-hair out moments.
Her primary focus in session is building a therapeutic relationship— where the client feels accepted, safe, and free to explore their inner world. Together, we learn tools to manage the unpleasant symptoms of anxiety, depression, and life; and uncover the layers to find the root cause. Through our sessions, the client will gain a deeper understanding of themselves and learn tools they can use for a lifetime.
Jules believes the path to a full and meaningful life emerges when we acknowledge where we are at, get clear with our values, and commit to mindful action. She is dedicated to helping her clients thrive.
