Sometimes the decision to come to counselling can be a hard one to make. It might feel like admitting defeat, somehow failing to manage problems, or that things need to reach a crisis point before counselling feels necessary. The counselling relationship provides a safe and non-judgemental connection that can be beneficial and supportive. This is because, like all life forms when nurtured under the right conditions, transformative growth occurs. Lindsay aims to help clients reach a deeper understanding of their challenges, create the conditions for meaningful change, and nurture resilience for future obstacles.
Lindsay graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Psychology in 2006. She has since studied Special Education specializing in Autism and Developmental Disabilities and has received her Master of Education Degree in Counselling Psychology at UBC. Lindsay has over 15 years of experience working with families and individuals in various capacities, from behaviour intervention programs for the families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to real time crisis intervention work.
Lindsay was drawn to the field of counselling, with special attention to trauma, due to her own personal experiences and motivation to help herself and others build more fulfilling interpersonal connections. She has gone through her own experiences of growth and change while working with a skilled counsellor. It is her goal to make counselling as safe and comfortable an experience as possible. Her counselling approach is person centred, emotionally-focused, and attachment based.
