Mika holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Health/Mental Health and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of British Columbia.
Mika (MSW/RSW) approaches counselling from a strengths-based, person-centered manner, where her clients will be invited to partner with her to work collaboratively on the journey towards healing and wellness. Mika integrates different therapeutic modalities to provide something that is individualized to the unique situation and needs of her clients. She has over a decade of experience providing counselling and psychosocial support to clients in various healthcare settings as well as within the community. At various challenging times of her life, Mika has experienced the healing that comes from a safe, compassionate and supportive counselling relationship. She is committed to creating this space for her clients.

She is committed to continuing professional development and more recently, has been focusing on increasing her knowledge in trauma care. She has completed courses in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISM) and Complex Trauma.
Mika is a second-generation Japanese Canadian who was born and raised in Vancouver. She is married and a mom of two toddlers who constantly keep her on her toes. She enjoys spending time with her family and creating new memories together just as much as she enjoys getting her kids to bed on time to enjoy a new Netflix movie.
