Rene is a post-practicum intern counsellor.
Rene worked as a teacher in South Africa, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Education with a major in Psychology. Recently, she became a mother to a baby girl. Rene believes in empowering individuals by looking for protective factors within their environment to utilize and facilitate growth. She takes on a client-centered approach, by allowing the individual to guide the therapy session. She incorporates evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral and Dialectical behavioral practices into her therapy and believes the therapeutic relationship is unique to each individual. She strives for authenticity in the relationship and considers it an honor to be part of your journey to growth.
Rene seeks to obtain a holistic view of what behaviors are preventing you from overcoming certain challenges in your life, and collaboratively investigates thought patterns leading up to this behavior. By incorporating identified protective skills, she works within your unique framework to assist your growth.
