Ainsley is a practicum student who is completing her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology degree at the University of British Columbia. She holds a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Counselling and Human Development from Simon Fraser University. Ainsley uses a person-centered approach and emphasizes the importance of creating a safe, collaborative, and empowering therapeutic space.
Ainsley believes that counselling is a brave endeavour of getting to know yourself better, learning new skills, and reconnecting with your life in a way that matters to you. While she believes that each person is the expert in their own life, she also believes that we all need support sometimes. Ainsley hopes to provide a gentle and comforting space for you to feel seen, heard, and accepted as you explore your life and reconnect with yourself. Ainsley knows that through a positive relationship between client and counsellor, growth and change happen; therefore, Ainsley works to create a genuine relationship with each client. In this therapeutic relationship, Ainsley and her clients work through emotional wounds in a way that feels meaningful.
Ainsley acknowledges that while all humans have commonalities in their experience, such as each of us having the capacity for growth, each person is different. Thus, Ainsley tailors her approach to each client. Ainsley’s approach is person-centered and is tailored to each client by drawing from many different therapeutic modalities including Emotion-Focused Therapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Self-Compassion Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Body-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. Ainsley wishes to meet you where you are at and move at a pace that works for you. She would be delighted to connect with you!
