Bryan, Horn M.Ed, RCC is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in good standing with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (#14765). He is a graduate of Simon Fraser University and has a Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology.
His previous experience includes fifteen years of caring and advocating for a diverse population of individuals in the Downtown Eastside who experience mental health and substance use challenges, homelessness, poverty, and behavioural issues.
As a clinical counsellor, Bryan’s objectives are to help you learn how to cope with problem situations, which may be causing you distress or trauma; to recognize your full potential; to maintain a healthy mind/body/spirit; and to work toward becoming your ideal self.
Bryan believes that our past experiences may influence, but do not have to control who we are today or who we can become tomorrow, and that people have the freedom and ability to make conscious and lasting changes in their lives. He believes that with support, motivation, and commitment, positive change is possible, along with healing and personal growth.
He offers a humanistic, integrated, and strength-based approach to counselling based on acceptance, genuineness, and empathic understanding. A key component to Bryan’s practice is establishing and maintaining a strong and collaborative therapeutic relationship, in which you can explore, understand, and manage your emotional experiences.
In his practice, Bryan provides a safe and non-judgemental space where you can learn to better respond to your emotions; to become less reactive and more accepting of your lived experiences, and where positive change can occur.
It is important to Bryan that the counselling sessions he provides are meaningful and helpful to you in reaching your goals, and he feels privileged to be able to share with you in that process.
