Cecilia Ward, MCP, RCC is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), and has a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University, Vancouver. She has spent the past 5 years supporting clients wrestling with issues arising from the impacts of traumatic events and/or abuse experiences (physical, sexual, financial, verbal and emotional).
Cecilia uses her learning and skills to support work with many symptoms of trauma, such as PTSD, anxiety and depression, but also has experience working with personality disorder traits, risky and compulsive behaviours, relationship issues, self-esteem/worthiness, and grief. She is qualified to use the following therapies: Psychoeducation, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Ego-State Therapy for Trauma-Related Dissociation, Somatic-Based Therapies, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
As a Counsellor, Cecilia takes a person-centered lens and follows a humanistic-existential approach that above all fosters a safe therapeutic relationship. Through collaboration, Cecilia will help to facilitate a process that aims to observe and describe the felt suffering, so that the client may find clarity and opportunities for responding differently to life challenges. She believes that it is you, the client who knows your life best; what experiences have been painful and what may be needed for healing.
Cecilia is also a verified counsellor for the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP).
