FAQs
Common questions about counselling anywhere in BCCommon questions
You meet your counsellor by video from home or anywhere private in BC. It starts with a free 15-minute consultation by phone or video, then our intake team suggests counsellors who fit what you need, your language and your budget. After that, your sessions happen online, just as they would in an office.
Yes. You can meet a counsellor online from anywhere in BC, whether you live in a city or in a town far from our offices. You need a private space where you can talk freely, and a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and an internet connection.
Yes. Our counsellors also see clients in person at offices across BC, and the offices section on this page lists each one with its address. Every counsellor also sees clients online, so you can choose what suits you when you book.
Often, yes. Extended health plans cover online sessions the same as in-person ones, and many plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors and Canadian Certified Counsellors. Check the details of your own plan, and see our fees and funding page for the fees and our sliding scale rates for eligible people.
No. Online counselling is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, call or text 9-8-8, or call 911 if you are in danger. Once you are safe, a free 15-minute consultation can help you find ongoing support that fits you.
