FAQs
Common questions about counselling on the Sunshine CoastCommon questions
Yes, online. We do not have an office on the Sunshine Coast, but you can meet a counsellor by video from home or anywhere private. Sessions begin the same way as in person, with a free 15-minute consultation by phone or video.
Our closest office is our West Vancouver office on Marine Drive, about 45 km away in a straight line. Our two downtown Vancouver offices, on Burrard Street and Howe Street, are about 50 km away. If you are in the city from time to time, you can ask about meeting at one of them.
Our intake team suggests counsellors who fit what you need, your language, your budget and how you want to meet, online or in person. You can also read each counsellor's profile on our team page, with the concerns they help with and the languages they speak, before you choose.
In many cases, yes. Plans that cover Registered Clinical Counsellors and Canadian Certified Counsellors treat online sessions like in-person ones, but each plan differs, so read yours first. Our fees and funding page sets out the fees, and eligible people can ask about sliding scale rates.
Counselling, online or in person, is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, call or text 9-8-8, or call 911 if you are in danger. When you are ready for ongoing support, our free consultation is a calm place to start.
