About

About ADHD therapy in Surrey

288 words

In Surrey, people come to us about ADHD for many reasons. A student may reread the same page and still lose the thread. An adult may miss appointments, let bills pile up or feel worn out from trying twice as hard as coworkers. A partner or parent may notice that small tasks turn into big arguments at home. Whatever brings you, you can talk about it with or without a diagnosis.

You can meet a counsellor for ADHD therapy in Surrey at our King George Hub, our Newton office near King George Boulevard and 74 Avenue, or our Panorama office on Highway 10. Video sessions from anywhere in BC are also an option. A free 15-minute consultation is the place to start.

What ADHD therapy in Surrey looks like

Your first contact is the free consultation, by phone or video. You can say as much or as little as you want about what feels hard right now. Our intake team then suggests counsellors who fit your needs, your language, your budget and whether you prefer a Surrey office or video. Your first session is a chance to map out your days together: when focus slips, what gets forgotten and what already helps. You decide what to share and how fast to go.

Over later sessions, ADHD counselling in Surrey often turns to everyday tools. You might set up a simple weekly plan, use timers or alarms to get started on tasks, or keep keys and papers in one set spot. Some people also work on the shame or frustration that can follow years of being called lazy or careless. Sessions can happen in person in Surrey or online, so you can choose the one that fits your week.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Almost everyone experiences symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) at some point in their lives. You probably do not have ADHD if the symptoms are recent or have occurred only occasionally in the past. These symptoms begin and persist since childhood, before the age of 12.

FAQs

Common questions about ADHD therapy in SurreyCommon questions

Can't find your answer? Ask us a question.

  • Yes. You can meet a counsellor who helps with ADHD at the King George Hub on King George Boulevard, at our Newton office at 7404 King George Boulevard, or at our Panorama office on Highway 10. On a busy week, you can also meet by video from anywhere in BC. Our intake team can help you pick the office or online option that suits you.

  • No, you do not need a diagnosis to start counselling. You can come because focus, restlessness or forgetting is getting in the way, whether or not you have been assessed. A counsellor does not diagnose ADHD or prescribe medication. If you have questions about an assessment or medication, talk with a doctor, nurse practitioner or psychiatrist.

  • It depends on what you want to change, and you choose the focus. Many people work on starting tasks, keeping track of time and building routines for mornings, work or school. Some talk about the low confidence that can come after years of hearing they should just try harder, or about how ADHD shows up with a partner or family. Your counsellor helps you try small changes and adjust what does not fit.

  • It may be. Many extended health plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors and Canadian Certified Counsellors (RCC/CCC), so check your own plan to see what it includes. We also offer sliding scale rates for eligible people. Our fees and funding page explains the options, and you can ask about them in your free consultation.

  • If you are in crisis, call or text 9-8-8, or call 911 if you are in danger. Counselling is not an emergency service, so please do not wait for a session if you feel unsafe. Once you feel steady, the free 15-minute consultation is there whenever you are ready to talk about ongoing support for ADHD.
