About

About ADHD therapy in Vancouver

276 words

Adults, students and parents in Vancouver come to us when ADHD makes ordinary days feel harder than they should. You might miss emails at work, lose your keys again, or find your mind drifting in the middle of a conversation. A parent might notice a child who can't sit through dinner or forgets what was asked a minute ago. You can talk about any of this without a diagnosis.

For ADHD counselling in Vancouver, you can meet a counsellor at our Downtown Vancouver office in Park Place on Burrard Street or at our South Granville office on West Broadway. Video sessions from anywhere in BC are also an option. A free 15-minute consultation lets you ask your questions first.

What ADHD therapy in Vancouver looks like

Your first contact is the free consultation by phone or video, where you share what brought you here. Our intake team then suggests a counsellor who fits your needs, your language, your budget and whether you prefer Burrard Street, West Broadway or video. The first session is a chance to map out your week together: when focus slips, what gets put off, and what is already working. You choose what to talk about.

As ADHD therapy in Vancouver goes on, sessions often turn to tools you can test between visits. That might mean a simple weekly plan, timers for tasks you tend to avoid, or one set spot for things you often misplace. Your counsellor may also help you work through the frustration of feeling behind, and how ADHD shows up with a partner, family or coworkers. Sessions can happen at either office or by video, whichever fits your week.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Almost everyone experiences symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) at some point in their lives. You probably do not have ADHD if the symptoms are recent or have occurred only occasionally in the past. These symptoms begin and persist since childhood, before the age of 12.

FAQs

Common questions about ADHD therapy in VancouverCommon questions

Can't find your answer? Ask us a question.

  • Yes. Counsellors who help with ADHD meet clients at our Downtown Vancouver office in Park Place, 666 Burrard Street, and at our South Granville office, 1285 West Broadway. If getting to an office is hard some weeks, you can also meet by video from anywhere in BC. Our intake team can help you choose the option that fits your routine.

  • No, you do not need a diagnosis or a referral to start. Some people come with questions about whether ADHD might explain what they notice day to day. A counsellor does not diagnose ADHD or prescribe medication, so for an assessment or any medication question, please talk with a doctor, nurse practitioner or psychiatrist. Counselling can sit alongside that care.

  • Most people work on the everyday things ADHD can make harder, such as getting started on tasks, keeping track of time and following through on plans. You and your counsellor may try out routines, reminders and ways to split work into smaller pieces. Many people also make room to talk about self-doubt, or tension at home or at work, at a pace that feels right.

  • It may be. Many extended health plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors and Canadian Certified Counsellors (RCC/CCC), so it is worth checking the details of your own plan. We also offer sliding scale rates for eligible people. Our fees and funding page explains your options, and you can ask about them during the free consultation.

  • If you are in crisis, call or text 9-8-8, or call 911 if you are in danger. Counselling is not an emergency service, so please do not wait for a booked session when you need help now. Once you feel steadier, the free consultation can help you find ongoing ADHD support in Vancouver or online.
