What we help with
About
Couples in Langley come to us at every stage: dating, newly living together, raising kids or long married. You might notice the same fight about money or chores every week, or talks that end in silence. Some partners feel more like roommates. Others are rebuilding trust or deciding whether to stay together. Couples counselling in Langley can give you both a place to slow down and hear each other.
You can meet a counsellor who works with couples at Langley Meadows on 64th Avenue, Langley Centre Crossroads on Fraser Highway, or our office at 199 Street and 80 Avenue. You can also meet together by video from anywhere in BC. Start with a free 15-minute consultation by phone or video.
First comes the free consultation, where you can ask how sessions with a partner work before either of you commits. Our intake team suggests counsellors who fit what you both need, your language, your budget and where you would like to meet. In your first session of couples therapy in Langley, each of you can share what brought you in and what you hope will change. Your counsellor stays on the side of the relationship, not of one partner, and you each decide how much to share.
In later sessions, you may slow down a heated moment to notice the feelings under it, practise saying what you need without blame, and try new ways to repair after a fight. Sessions are usually together, though some may sometimes be one on one. Some couples prefer meeting at an office in Langley, while others find video easier to fit around work and kids.
Couples counselling differs from individual counselling in that the relationship is considered to be the client. Patterns of communication are explored in a non-pathologizing way, discovering underlying emotions that fuel negative interactions.

FAQs
Can't find your answer? Ask us a question.
Yes, you can meet in person at any of our Langley locations: the office on 199 Street near 80 Avenue, Langley Centre Crossroads on Fraser Highway and Langley Meadows on 64th Avenue. Let our intake team know which spot works best for you both. If coming in together is hard to arrange, couples sessions can also happen by video from anywhere in BC.
You can still reach out on your own. Book the free 15-minute consultation and ask how a counsellor might support you while your partner decides. Some people begin with individual sessions and invite their partner later. No one should feel pushed into couples counselling, and your partner can join if and when they are ready.
No. Your counsellor stays on the side of the relationship, not of one person. They help you both feel heard, even when you see things very differently. If one of you feels the sessions are tipping one way, you can say so, and your counsellor will talk it through with you both.
It may be. Many extended health plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors and Canadian Certified Counsellors (RCC/CCC), so check your own plan, and your partner's, to see what it includes. Our team includes RCCs, and we offer sliding scale rates for eligible people. You can find more on our fees and funding page.
Your safety comes first, and a joint session is not the place to start if there is violence or fear at home. You can ask to speak with a counsellor on your own instead. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8, call 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433), or call 911 if you are in danger. Counselling is not an emergency service, so use these lines rather than waiting for a session.
