Shivani’s therapeutic approach is grounded in humanism and guided by trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and a deep respect for the unique ways our identities and lived experiences intersect. Shivani believes that each person carries the wisdom and strength needed for healing. She views therapy as a relational process that honors clients as the experts in their own lives and walks alongside them with empathy, curiosity, and care.
She holds a master’s degree in counselling psychology from Adler University and brings over seven years of experience working in both clinical and community-based settings across Canada and India. She has worked with individuals, couples, and families through a range of concerns including trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, cultural transitions, identity exploration, and emotional well-being. Her work is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Satir Model, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and the Gottman Method, approaches she adapts thoughtfully to align with each client’s story, needs, and values.
Before establishing her practice in BC, Shivani worked extensively with youth and families in underserved communities in Mumbai, including those impacted by incarceration, systemic violence, and displacement. These formative experiences continue to inform her strong commitment to social justice and to creating therapeutic spaces where voice, dignity, and safety are not just protected but nurtured.
At the core of her work is a belief in the power of authentic, supportive relationships. Shivani offers a space where clients can pause, reconnect with themselves, and move at their own pace, free from judgment or expectation. Whether navigating grief, processing trauma, or undergoing personal transitions, Shivani hopes to provide a steady and compassionate presence where clients feel seen, heard, and supported.
Shivani offers individual counselling, couples counselling, family counselling, and youth counselling.
Shivani sees clients in person at our Burnaby, Solo District (Willingdon/Lougheed) location, as well as through virtual care for clients anywhere in BC.
